Midcentury Japandi
The owners of this Minnetonka residence loved their private hilltop lot, but the house itself was dark, dated, and poorly suited to their lifestyle. “We had a vision of the home that met our lifestyle,” the clients said “We love our neighborhood and the yard that surrounds us. We wanted to craft our forever home together in this place, on that foundation.” So, they turned to our team, who began the design process by meeting with them, learning how they live, and discovering what their goals were for the project. The main design objectives centered on entertainment spaces, one-story living, natural light, and views of the greenery surrounding the home. To bring this vision to life, the home was stripped down to the foundation with only a few exterior walls left standing, allowing for a complete transformation. On the exterior, composite siding allows for minimal maintenance while still providing the natural appearance of wood cladding. Inside, vaulted ceilings and transom windows brighten the main level, while thoughtfully placed indirect lighting creates feelings of warmth and coziness. The success of this project was built on a strong foundation of trust between the homeowners and the design-build team, resulting in a home that exceeded expectations.
